I am so happy to say that I have finally finished my lung piece. This week I added more wire and connected the two lungs. After that I glued attached them to the base, which was made out of wood and dowels, by wrapping the wire around the dowels so it kind of looked like a display you might see at a doctor's office. Once I did that I just did some touch ups and added a plaque that says, "Smoker's Lungs." That was the gratifying moment I finally finished the project that took so long to make. All together, I am pretty happy with the piece. I like the overall look, but I feel it looks messier than I had imagined. I was going for a kind of dirty look, so I guess it's all right, but I'm afraid it may look like I just threw things together. Even though it may look messy, I think the message I was trying to send, that you destroy your lungs when you smoke, came across very clearly.
The other thing I did this week was finish my pit fire piece. I am so happy with it! It looks much better than the one I did last year. All I had to do this week was shine it with floor wax.
